Winnie Mandela Primary School Netball Team Wins First Major Trophy

Winnie Mandela Primary School’s netball team has celebrated a major milestone, winning their first trophy along with an R10,000 voucher. The girls, guided by coaches Mantume Alinah Moerane and Kamogelo Molokomme, lifted the trophy in what they described as a β€œdream come true” moment.

The team’s journey to victory has been shaped by hands-on training, developing players as young as eight years old. Under Moerane and Molokomme’s guidance, they previously won the PEP mini netball in 2022 and the district league in 2023/24.

Reflecting on their success, Moerane shared, β€œThe heatwave on the day was one of the biggest challenges. With a team of 10 players, it was important to rotate them frequently, ensuring everyone stayed hydrated and got a chance to play. We rotated positions to change the tempo and outpace our opponents.”

Coach Molokomme added, β€œOur girls could keep up with the faster pace, while other teams struggled.” As the team prepares for final exams, the coaches are already recruiting new players for next season, focusing on building teamwork and strength for future success.
