Mmusi Maimane has come out strongly against Operation Dudula, accusing the group of using nationalism as a cover for racism and unlawful targeting of African immigrants.

In his latest statement, Maimane condemned the movement’s actions, saying that harassing foreign nationals based on their origin violates South Africa’s core democratic values. “This is not patriotism—it’s racism,” he said.

He called for a balanced and humane approach to immigration, stressing the importance of integration, fairness, and unity in how the country manages migration. Maimane argued that while immigration challenges must be addressed, they should never be used as a weapon to divide Africans or promote hatred.

As tensions over immigration continue to rise in parts of the country, Maimane’s comments serve as a firm reminder: South Africa’s future depends on cohesion, not scapegoating.
