Frustration turned to fury in Jouberton’s Extension 24 this afternoon as residents took to the streets in protest over a prolonged and unexplained power outage. The electricity cut, which began around 6PM last night, has left the community in the dark for nearly 24 hours β€” with not a single update from the City of Matlosana.

Fuming over the silence, residents made their anger visible by blocking main roads with burning tyres, tree branches, and rocks, bringing movement in and out of the area to a standstill. Smoke rose over the township as calls for accountability echoed through the protest lines.

β€œWe can’t live like this, especially without communication from the municipality,” a visibly frustrated resident told Maklera Magazine over the phone.

With no electricity and no explanation, tensions continue to mount. Residents are demanding immediate answers β€” not only about what caused the outage but also when they can expect the power to return.

As of now, municipal officials have yet to break their silence, leaving a community already in darkness also in limbo.
