National Police Commissioner General Fannie Masemola has issued a powerful call for police officers to protect themselves whenever they face danger, following the tragic killing of two detectives in Roodepoort. The incident has sent shockwaves through the South African Police Service and the wider community.

The suspect, identified as Zimbabwean national Jabulani Moyo, reportedly opened fire on the officers while being transported after a court appearance. He then fled the scene in the police vehicle, sparking an intense manhunt.

In response, Masemola has mobilised maximum resources to track down Moyo, with the SAPS offering a R150,000 reward for information leading to his arrest. She has also warned the public against sheltering the fugitive, urging citizens to come forward with any tips.

As the hunt continues, Masemola’s message is clear: police officers must be ready to defend themselves in the line of duty to prevent further tragedies. The nation watches closely as law enforcement races to bring justice and restore safety.
