Floyd Shivambu has laid out a bold vision for a future under Mayibuye iAfrika, vowing to dismantle what he calls β€œoutdated” ANC-era systems β€” including the widely criticised tender system and age-based employment restrictions that limit opportunities to those between 18 and 35.

Speaking on the party’s reform agenda, Shivambu promised inclusive job opportunities for all age groups, saying, β€œIt’s time to break away from the old. We need to open up the economy to every capable citizen, regardless of age.”

He also proposed that parliamentarians and government officials should retire at 60 or 65, a move aimed at creating space for younger leaders to rise and bring fresh energy into South African politics. β€œWe cannot talk about transformation while clinging to the same seats for decades,” he said.

In addition, Shivambu pledged to revive youth sports and employment initiatives that have long been neglected, emphasizing that fairness, merit, and equal opportunity will be central to Mayibuye iAfrika’s governance model. He said empowering the youth is not just a promise, but a necessity for South Africa’s future.

With these pledges, Mayibuye iAfrika positions itself as a party intent on resetting the political landscape β€” focused on generational renewal, dismantling systemic barriers, and restoring hope in public leadership.
