Mduduzi Mnisi, accused of murdering 14-year-old Likhona Fose, has been granted R5,000 bail by the Roodepoort Magistrateβs Court, stirring strong emotions in the community. The court ruled there was insufficient evidence to justify keeping Mnisi in custody at this stage of the investigation.
Foseβs mutilated body was discovered in a veld near her Durban Deep home on June 1, 2025 β just a day after she was reported missing. While the state opposes bail, citing a witness statement placing Mnisi with Fose on the day she disappeared, the defense insists there is no concrete evidence linking him to the crime.
Mnisi denies any connection to Fose and has accused the investigating officer, Moses Semosa, of harboring a personal vendetta against him. Adding to his defense, Mnisiβs girlfriend, Pinky Gantso, testified that he was with her in Daveyton at the time of the murder.
The decision to grant bail has been met with outrage by Foseβs family and the broader community, who fear justice may be compromised. As the case unfolds, attention remains focused on how the investigation proceeds and whether more evidence will emerge to bring closure to this tragic loss.
