The family of Constable Francis Rasuge has slammed the potential release of William Nkuna, the man convicted of her 2004 murder, calling his parole consideration a grave injustice. Nkuna, sentenced to life in prison in 2005, is now being reviewed for parole after serving over 20 years—a move that has triggered public outrage and deep anguish for the Rasuge family.
Nkuna concealed Rasuge’s remains beneath his home’s floor for eight years, until they were finally discovered in 2012. The family says his lack of remorse and history of premeditated violence make him unfit for release.
As the parole board weighs its decision, there are growing calls for tighter parole reforms to ensure violent offenders like Nkuna are never granted freedom. For Rasuge’s family, the trauma remains raw, and forgiveness is off the table—they insist justice means he must remain behind bars.
