A woman was shot and killed in a suspected drive-by shooting on Saturday afternoon along the P100 road in Ndwedwe, KwaZulu-Natal, in a chilling incident that has left the local community shaken.

According to Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA), concerned residents reported a white VW Tiguan veering off the road and overturning into a nearby yard. One caller mentioned a woman trapped inside the vehicle, though her condition was initially unknown.

RUSA paramedics and Reaction Officers responded swiftly, arriving on scene at around 18h24. Upon inspection, the SUV was found riddled with bullet holes. The female occupant had sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Ten spent rifle cartridges were recovered near the vehicle, strongly suggesting a targeted, high-powered attack.

While the motive remains unclear, authorities have launched a full investigation. The brutal nature of the shooting and the presence of automatic weaponry point to a calculated hit rather than a random act of violence.
