ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula has come out firmly in support of President Cyril Ramaphosaβs recent decision to axe former deputy minister Andrew Whitfield over an unsanctioned trip to the United States, sending a clear message: the ANC will not tolerate any form of disrespect toward the President.
Backing Ramaphosaβs authority, Mbalula reminded critics that the dismissal was not unprecedented. He referenced past ANC leaders like Nelson Mandela and Thabo Mbeki, who also took decisive action to uphold party discipline and maintain the integrity of executive governance.
In a tone underscoring discipline and respect within the ranks, Mbalula reaffirmed the ANCβs stance that the Presidentβs decisions must be respectedβboth within the Government of National Unity and beyond.
