Thaba Nchu β A 39-year-old man, Teboho Patrick Mofokeng, appeared in the Thaba Nchu Magistrateβs Court on June 23, 2025, facing multiple charges related to a string of aggravated robberies dating back to 2023.
Mofokengβs arrest was the result of a meticulous crime pattern analysis led by Selosesha Station Commander Colonel Mosiua Jafeta Khotlele, which sparked a successful collaboration between the community and police to crack down on escalating robberies.
π― Modus Operandi
According to police, Mofokeng allegedly lured victims by falsely claiming that the police were searching for them. He would then escort them to remote locations, where he robbed them of valuables such as cash and mobile phones.
ποΈ Identification and Evidence
To date, 18 victims have come forward, with five positively identifying Mofokeng through distinctive features including tattoos and a damaged index finger.
Police are currently conducting identity parades but have withheld his photograph for investigative reasons. Some stolen items have already been recovered.

Authorities are urging anyone from Thaba Nchu and Selosesha who believes they may have been targeted to contact detectives promptly.
