In a bombshell eNCA interview on Monday, former uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party Secretary-General Floyd Shivambu launched a scathing attack on the party’s spokesperson, Nhlamulo Ndhlela, accusing him of rampant substance abuse and drunken behaviour. The explosive segment, aired live on June 23, has since triggered a storm of reactions across South Africa’s political and social landscapes.
Shivambu didn’t mince words, branding Ndhlela a “fool” and claiming he is “always on drugs and high on alcohol,” as tensions within the MK Party spill further into the public domain. But the verbal assault didn’t stop there. Shivambu also alleged a major corruption scandal within the party, accusing Jacob Zuma’s inner circle of siphoning off R7 million per month from party coffers.
The interview has ignited a wave of controversy, with social media ablaze over the dramatic claims. While some users slammed Shivambu’s remarks as reckless and defamatory, others are demanding an official investigation into the corruption and substance abuse allegations. As of now, the MK Party has not released a formal response, leaving the public—and party members—on edge amid growing internal fractures.
