In a decisive ruling, the Pretoria High Court has dismissed an urgent application by Jabulani Khumalo, founder of the expelled uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP), ordering him to pay punitive costs. Khumalo sought to overturn his removal as a director of the MKP, claiming the resolution to delist him was unlawful and unauthorized.

The court sided with the MKP, represented by Advocate Dali Mpofu, who characterized Khumalo’s application as an abuse of the judicial process. Mpofu warned against using courts as a “political playground” and urged the imposition of punitive costs to discourage similar frivolous litigation.

This ruling represents yet another legal blow to Khumalo amid his ongoing battles with the MKP leadership, including tensions involving former president Jacob Zuma. The judgment signals a firm stance by the judiciary against political infighting masked as legal challenges.
