Former uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party Secretary-General Floyd Shivambu has lashed out at what he calls South Africaβs political βuntouchables,β saying he has never been afraid to confront βpeople who take drugs, tweet at night, and insult us.β
Shivambuβs pointed remarks appear to be a direct response to MK Party MP Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, who earlier this year posted a series of late-night insults aimed at him on X (formerly Twitter), following his fallout with the partyβs leadership.
The statement adds fuel to the ongoing tensions within the MK Party, which have grown increasingly personal and public since Shivambuβs removal. It also highlights the deepening rift between Shivambu and figures close to party president Jacob Zuma, as internal battles spill into the open.
With Shivambu now openly consulting on forming a new political party, his comments suggest he is not backing down from challenging those he believes are protected by political influence β even if they share the same party banner, for now.
