The North West province bid farewell to one of its brightest stars as Acting Premier Kenetswe Mosenogi honoured the late Presley Chweneyagae during an emotional funeral service held on June 7 at the Akasia Community Hall in Pretoria. Chweneyagae, best known for his unforgettable role in the Oscar-winning film Tsotsi, was celebrated not only as an actor but as a cultural icon whose influence will outlive the screen.
In her moving tribute, Mosenogi emphasized the actor’s deep roots in the North West and called on the creative industry to build on his legacy. She urged actors and artists to work with the province to uplift and mentor rising talent—echoing the spirit of Chweneyagae, who remained committed to his community throughout his career.
