The father, identified as the registered owner of a VW Polo vehicle that has become a critical piece of evidence in the case, was taken into custody late last night. Meanwhile, the mother stands accused of allegedly warning her son about the police’s active search, potentially obstructing justice.
Both parents are now in police custody and undergoing intense questioning as investigators work to uncover the full extent of their involvement and whether they helped facilitate the suspect’s escape.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Thabo Msimanga stated, “We are pursuing every lead rigorously. The arrest of the suspect’s parents is a significant step, and we urge the suspect to surrender peacefully.”
