In a dramatic twist on an otherwise ordinary day, police intercepted a stolen Toyota Hilux GD6 during a routine patrol on the R101 near the Polokwane Weighbridge, resulting in the arrest of two young women, aged 19 and 20.
Authorities confirmed the vehicle had been reported stolen, sparking a swift response from law enforcement.
But the true drama unfolded when the male driver—identified only as Legudzumela—made a daring escape, abandoning the vehicle and sprinting into the thick bushveld. Despite efforts to track him down, he remains at large, prompting an ongoing manhunt.
The two women, who were found inside the vehicle, were immediately taken into custody and are scheduled to appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court today (Tuesday). They face serious charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, which could carry heavy legal consequences.
