Eskom has announced the immediate implementation of Stage 2 loadshedding, set to run daily from 16h00 to 22h00, starting today and continuing until Thursday, May 15.
The power utility cites ongoing constraints on the generation capacity and the need to replenish emergency reserves as the key reasons for the latest round of scheduled outages.
“We apologise for the inconvenience and urge the public to use electricity sparingly,” Eskom said in a brief statement.
Stage 2 loadshedding means up to 2,000 MW will be shed from the national grid, resulting in rotational power cuts across the country during peak evening hours.
Residents are advised to check local schedules and make necessary preparations, especially for critical evening activities, as the country continues to face ongoing power supply challenges
