Police in Pretoria have dismantled a major drug syndicate involved in the illegal sale of steroids and other performance-enhancing drugs, leading to multiple arrests on Tuesday. National police spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Amanda van Wyk confirmed that the crime scene remained active as authorities continued their operation.
Investigations revealed that the syndicate was distributing scheduled medicine, stimulants, and illicit PEDs through online platforms, making them easily accessible to unsuspecting consumers. Officers executed a series of coordinated arrests across multiple locations in Pretoria, bringing in a number of suspects believed to be part of the operation.

A forensic analysis conducted as part of the investigation exposed the dangers of the substances being sold. One of the so-called “fat burner” products marketed by the syndicate was found to contain Dimethylphenethylamine, an isomer of methamphetamineβbetter known as crystal meth or Tik. The presence of this highly addictive and dangerous substance has raised serious concerns about the potential harm to buyers who may have unknowingly consumed it.
Authorities are urging the public to remain cautious when purchasing supplements and weight-loss products online, as the illegal market for such substances is expanding. Law enforcement continues to monitor the situation, and further details are expected to emerge as the investigation unfolds.
