Donell Mbele, the 23-year-old son of actress Sonia Mbele, appeared in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court today on charges of rape. Mbele was arrested last month after his ex-girlfriend, 17, accused him of sexual assault following a date in December 2024. The young woman shared her distressing experience on social media, expressing how she felt betrayed by someone she once trusted. She also described another incident where she felt pressured and uncomfortable during their interactions.

Mbele has faced similar accusations in the past. His previous ex-girlfriend, Reokeditswe Makete, had also accused him of assault but later decided not to proceed with the charges. These allegations have sparked significant attention, raising questions about Mbele’s conduct in his relationships.

The case has been postponed for further investigation, with the National Prosecuting Authority confirming that the matter will be revisited on 21 March for consultation with the complainant and additional inquiries. This delay reflects the ongoing process of gathering more information and ensuring a thorough investigation.

As a result of the arrest, Mbele was removed from the Showmax reality show Born Into Fame, indicating the seriousness of the situation. The case continues to unfold, and many are closely following its development to understand the impact on Mbele’s personal and professional life.
