The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has been rocked by internal tensions after its leader, Jacob Zuma, issued a stern ultimatum to his daughter, Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla. Following a string of scathing remarks directed at the party’s secretary-general, Floyd Shivambu, on social media, Zuma has demanded an immediate and public apology—or she will face expulsion.
Zuma-Sambudla, known for her outspoken nature, unleashed a series of insults against Shivambu on X (formerly Twitter), including an explicit remark and branding him as “the worst thing that has happened to the MK Party.” In a defiant post, she suggested she was ready for any consequences, stating, “They will expel me tomorrow… It is well with my soul. OKSALAYO FLOYD IS USELESS!!!”
In a statement released just after midnight, Jacob Zuma made it clear that his daughter’s actions were unacceptable and would not go unpunished if she failed to comply with the directive. He emphasized that the MK Party is built on strict discipline and adherence to its Disciplinary Code of Conduct, reaffirming that no member, regardless of their standing, is above the party’s constitution.
The online feud exposed deeper divisions within the party, with contrasting views surfacing on X. An account claiming to represent the MK Party’s Info Centre responded to Zuma-Sambudla’s outburst, stressing that all members are equal, regardless of when they joined the movement. The statement underscored the party’s commitment to serving communities and focusing on the 2026 local government elections rather than engaging in internal conflicts.
Zuma-Sambudla, however, was undeterred. She doubled down on her stance, alleging that the Info Centre post was orchestrated by Shivambu’s supporters. In yet another inflammatory message, she directly challenged him, saying, “Floyd, I’m not scared of you! Tell your minions to f*ck off… Bloody Mafikizolo’s.”
Her relentless social media attacks fueled speculation among users, with some suggesting her account had been hacked, while others insisted that the tone and wording aligned with her usual style. Meanwhile, Shivambu himself remained relatively reserved amid the storm, sharing a cryptic post that only added to the intrigue surrounding the controversy.
