Legendary radio presenter Linda “Mr Magic” Sibiya recently returned to Ukhozi FM after an 11-year absence, leaving listeners thrilled and calling for his permanent return. On February 6, the 50-year-old was invited to the station’s breakfast show to discuss his Magic Broadcasting Academy, a venture he has been passionate about for years. His brief return sparked excitement on social media, with fans expressing their desire to hear his bold, energetic voice back on air.
Linda, who was fired from Ukhozi FM in 2014 after over two decades of hosting various shows, shared with listeners that he misses the station and would be willing to return if given the opportunity. Despite his departure, he has never spoken ill of Ukhozi FM and remains open to any show or time slot. His love for radio is clear, and he expressed that he would appreciate any chance to reconnect with his audience, whether it’s during the week or late-night shows.
Beyond his career in radio, Linda has also been running the Magic Broadcasting Academy at Mfolozi TVET in Empangeni, KZN, where he trains aspiring broadcasters. He is expanding the academy’s reach, with plans to open branches in Durban, Pietermaritzburg, and Newcastle. The academy has already helped launch the careers of several notable presenters, including Luyanda Mnqayi of Gagasi FM.
On February 8, Linda hosted auditions for his academy at the Hilton Hotel in Durban, seeking passionate individuals eager to pursue careers in radio, advertising, and TV production. He emphasized the importance of passion in the industry, with candidates getting a chance to speak about their goals and aspirations. Through this initiative, Linda continues to nurture the next generation of broadcasters while holding a special place in the hearts of Ukhozi FM listeners.
