Former EFF MP and spokesperson Dr. Mbuyiseni Ndlozi has spoken out about his absence from party activities, including its recent elective conference. He revealed that he had been instructed to stay away from EFF engagements, including resigning from parliament, despite the party maintaining that his resignation was voluntary.
In an interview with the SABC, Ndlozi disclosed that he had been suspended for approximately six weeks leading up to the partyβs third National Peopleβs Assembly (NPA) in December. His suspension, he claimed, was based on suspicions that he was aware of former EFF deputy president Floyd Shivambuβs plans to join the MK Party and that he was allegedly working with the newly formed political movement.
Ndlozi emphasized that his suspension did not follow the partyβs standard disciplinary procedures. He described it as an unconventional move that did not align with the EFFβs constitution or code of conduct. According to him, the allegations against him were unfounded and based on misinformation. He acknowledged that he was aware of Shivambuβs departure but insisted that he had advised him to inform the party leadership about his decision.
Dismissing the notion that he was conspiring against the EFF, Ndlozi categorically stated that he never intended to join the MKP and had no association with any political maneuvering related to the party. He rejected the implication that he should have preemptively informed others about Shivambuβs decision, arguing that doing so would have made him an informant or a wedge driver, which he refused to be.
Despite widespread support for his candidacy as the EFFβs deputy president, Ndlozi was barred from contesting at the conference. Party leader Julius Malema firmly dismissed any discussion surrounding Ndloziβs situation, making it clear that he was no longer concerned with his political trajectory. Malema further stated that he would not work with individuals whom he believed were attempting to undermine the movement.
Ndloziβs revelations have raised questions about the inner workings of the EFF and the mechanisms used to manage internal dissent. While he remains a significant figure in South African politics, his political future remains uncertain amid the fallout from his suspension.
