The State is set to serve its indictment on five men accused of orchestrating the brutal murder of South African rapper Kiernan “AKA” Forbes. The rapper was tragically gunned down on February 10, 2023, while exiting a restaurant on Durban’s Florida Road. His close friend, celebrity chef Tebello “Tibz” Motsoane, was also fatally shot during the attack.
In the wake of their deaths, a prayer service and candlelight vigil were held outside the Wish restaurant in Durban to honor the memories of AKA and Tibz, whose tragic killings have shocked the nation.
The five men charged in connection with the murder have been identified as Lindokuhle Thabani Mkhwanazi, Lindani Zenzele Ndimande, Siyanda Eddie Myeza, Mziwethemba Harvey Gwabeni, and Lindokuhle Lindo Ndimande. They have remained in custody since their arrests and are facing several serious charges, including conspiracy to commit murder, murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, five counts of attempted murder, and money laundering.
Meanwhile, two other suspects, Siyabonga Gezani Ndimande and Malusi Dave Ndimande, continue to resist extradition efforts following their arrest in Eswatini. These developments have added a layer of complexity to the ongoing investigation.
In a significant ruling last month, the Durban Magistrate’s Court denied bail applications for Gwabeni and Lindokuhle Ndimande. Magistrate Vincent Hlatshwayo remarked that the facts presented before him were not new, reinforcing the decision to keep the suspects in custody while awaiting trial.
