A tragic incident unfolded in Westham, Phoenix, early on Monday morning when a 33-year-old bus driver was shot and killed. Private security company Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) was called to the scene after reports of a shooting came in around 5:30 am.

Upon arrival, RUSA officers discovered a white bus partially off the road. The driver, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, was unfortunately already deceased by the time paramedics arrived. According to RUSA’s head, Prema Balram, it is believed that three individuals in a white Toyota Etios, whose registration number remains unknown, opened fire on the bus before quickly fleeing the scene.

Miraculously, no passengers were on the bus at the time of the attack. At this stage, the motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and authorities are continuing their investigation. The South African Police Service (SAPS) has been contacted for any updates regarding the case.

This tragic event has left the community in shock, as questions surrounding the motive and the perpetrators remain unanswered. RUSA, together with SAPS, is working to uncover the details of the crime, while residents wait for further clarity on this devastating incident.
