Motorists traveling on the N2 from Durban to Amanzimtoti are facing significant disruptions after a partial bridge collapse near the Ezimbokodweni River, just past Twini Hill, KwaZulu-Natal. Drone footage has revealed the extent of the damage to the N2 bridge, showing a beam that partially sank around 11:00 yesterday, resulting in an uneven surface on the southbound lanes.

As a result of the collapse, the southbound lanes of the N2 have been closed to traffic while authorities assess the situation and determine the necessary repairs. The damage to the bridge appears to be extensive, and the task of fixing it will likely be complex and time-consuming.

Motorists are being advised to use alternative routes to avoid delays. Drivers heading south on the N2 can exit at the Joyner Road offramp in Prospecton and continue via the R102. Local councillor Andrè Beetge has urged travelers to plan ahead and consider these detours to ensure a smoother journey.
