Captain Richard Botha has retired after 33 years of service with the South African Police Service (SAPS), marking the end of a distinguished career that began in 1983. Inspired by his family’s police background, Botha rejoined the force in 1991 at Kempton Park Police Station, where he worked in the Service Complaints Centre and later the Crime Prevention Unit. In 1995, he transitioned to a detective role and spent 15 years at the Crime Information Management and Analysis Centre, where he also contributed to the Management Information Technology department.
Looking ahead to retirement, Botha plans to move overseas with his wife, who has accepted a seven-year work opportunity in the United States. His career, marked by dedication and service, leaves a lasting impact on the Kempton Park SAPS and the community he served.
He expressed enthusiasm about the opportunity to explore new destinations, meet diverse individuals, and embark on new adventures.He also shared words of advice for young constables.
