Victor Boniface, the Nigerian striker playing for Bayer Leverkusen, is currently under internal investigation by his club after allegedly committing a driving offense. According to reports, Boniface was seen operating his mobile phone while driving at a speed 20 km/h over the legal limit. The incident reportedly took place while the striker was in Amsterdam, where he attended a concert by Nigerian music star Davido. Boniface was accompanied by other notable Nigerian celebrities, including Cubana Chief Priest, as they enjoyed the event together.

While the investigation is ongoing, Boniface is taking advantage of his time off the field due to an injury. The 21-year-old forward, who has been in great form for both Bayer Leverkusen and the Super Eagles, won’t return to playing until the new year. This is due to a thigh injury he sustained during Nigeria’s 2-1 loss to Rwanda in the final match of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. The injury occurred in the latter stages of the game, and Boniface has been sidelined since then, with Bayer Leverkusen’s head coach, Xabi Alonso, confirming that he will not play again until after the holiday break.

During his time off, Boniface has been in the Netherlands, where he has been recharging and enjoying some much-needed downtime. He has been mingling with fellow Nigerians, taking in the sights, and socializing with a few high-profile figures. His time spent with other celebrities at the Davido concert was seen as an opportunity to unwind and focus on his recovery away from the football pitch. However, while he enjoys this social aspect of his break, the internal investigation over his driving behavior may lead to consequences both with Bayer Leverkusen and German traffic authorities.

Despite the ongoing probe, Boniface’s off-field activities and social engagements appear to have become a topic of interest. While the footballer is known for his great performances on the pitch, his off-field behavior, including the recent driving incident, is raising questions. With the German authorities potentially involved, it remains to be seen how this will affect his reputation, both in the Bundesliga and beyond, as he looks to recover from his injury and return to top form in the new year.
