SuperSport United CEO Stan Matthews recently confirmed that Shandre Campbell, one of the club’s promising young talents, has earned a spot in the first team of Belgian Pro League giants, Club Brugge. This exciting news comes after an impressive run in the reserve team, where Campbell showcased his skill by scoring six goals and providing two assists. His standout performances in the second team caught the attention of Club Brugge’s management, leading to his promotion to the first team.

Matthews shared the news with the media, explaining the significance of Campbell’s rise through the ranks at Club Brugge. “The CEO of Club Brugge, Bob Madou, called me on Friday morning to inform me that Shandre has been promoted to the first team. It’s a huge achievement for him,” Matthews said, according to a report from Sportswire. “His performance with the reserve team has been exceptional, and now he’s training full-time with the first team.”

Matthews also reflected on the potential value of Campbell in the coming years. “A player like Shandre, if he continues to develop at this rate, could be worth anywhere between 40 to 50 million euros in two to three years. This is a fantastic opportunity for him, and it’s a significant step forward in his career.”

While SuperSport United won’t be receiving any immediate financial compensation for Campbell’s promotion, Matthews emphasized the long-term benefits the club could reap from the sale of the player. “Although we are not getting anything at the moment, we still have a percentage sale agreement in place. So, while it’s tough to see a promising player move on, we understand that the long-term reward could be substantial,” Matthews explained. “It’s difficult to let go of a player with so much potential, but we are paying the price for his development, and it’s something we’re willing to accept.”

Matthews also expressed pride in being part of Campbell’s development, acknowledging that SuperSport United has played a key role in nurturing the young talent. He highlighted the club’s continued commitment to helping players reach their full potential and ultimately make the jump to top-tier European clubs. The promotion of Campbell to Club Brugge’s first team is not only a personal achievement for the player but also a reflection of the success of SuperSport United’s youth development program.

With this move, Shandre Campbell’s career is poised for an exciting trajectory, and both SuperSport United and Club Brugge are eager to see how his talents will continue to evolve in the coming years.
