Former Bafana Bafana left-back Tsepo Masilela has suggested that Kaizer Chiefs should consider signing Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Neo Maema.
At 29 years old, Maema has been underutilized at Sundowns, featuring only once in the league this season and playing just nine league matches in four years. Despite this, Masilela believes Maema’s experience and winning mentality could benefit Kaizer Chiefs, who currently have a relatively young midfield.
“I would say get him if he’s available. If you want to build a championship-winning side and challenge for the league, you need depth,” Masilela shared on the Soccer Beat podcast, emphasizing the need for experienced players.

He continued, “We’ve talked about the importance of depth, and Maema is one of those players who can add significant value to your team. He’s experienced the feeling of winning championships, and at 29, he can bring that experience to Chiefs.”
With Kaizer Chiefs having added Thabo Cele in the January transfer window and some promising performances from players like Mduduzi Shabalala, Masilela believes that signing Maema could provide more stability and options for coach Nasreddine Nabi next season. This move could also help boost Chiefs’ experience, especially during the crucial second half of the season.
