Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro has remained tight-lipped regarding the ongoing absence of winger Monnapule Saleng.
Saleng has been sidelined for several months, with his last appearance for Pirates dating back to December 2024, despite having contributed five goals and one assist in 13 matches this season.
His unexplained absence has sparked much speculation, but even his agent, Karabo Tshabuse, has refused to comment on the situation.

Riveiro, however, insists it would be unethical for him to discuss the status of players who are unavailable for selection. He stated that any updates regarding Saleng, or other players in a similar position, will only be provided by the club when the time is appropriate.
Despite strong rumors linking Saleng with a January exit, Pirates managed to retain the 26-year-old forward.
When asked about Saleng’s absence, Riveiro explained, “I don’t discuss the health of my players. That’s a private matter. When the club feels the right time has come to share updates about players’ injuries and recovery, they will do so.”
He added, “It’s not part of my job, and it’s not ethical to speak about it. I know people want to know about players like Olisa Ndah, Goodman Mosele, and Saleng, but it won’t happen.”
