Pitso Mosimane, the renowned South African football coach, has finally spoken out about his future plans after leaving Saudi Pro League side Abha Club last season. The 60-year-old tactician has been linked to a possible return to the Premier Soccer League, with rumours swirling about a potential coaching stint at Kaizer Chiefs before they appointed Nasreddine Nabi.
In a recent interview with SABC Sport, Mosimane expressed his interest in coaching a national team, having already achieved immense success at the club level. He’s eyeing a national team that can make it to the semi-finals and potentially win the World Cup. “The World Cup I’ve done with a country was once… Maybe with the national team, that interests me more than with a club,” he stated.
Mosimane revealed that he received offers from two West African national teams, but the deals didn’t materialise due to differences in decision-making processes between the ministry and football federation. He explained that the complexities of these negotiations often lead to clashes between the two entities, with the ministry and federation having differing opinions on the ideal coach.
Despite this, Mosimane remains open to opportunities in Africa, Asia, and North America. Potential projects in the Gulf, Japan, and China are also on the table. However, the seasoned coach emphasised that he’s not in a rush to get back on the bench, taking his time to choose the right opportunity.
With his impressive track record and experience, Mosimane is surely going to make a significant impact wherever he ends up next. His achievements at Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahli have solidified his reputation as one of Africa’s top coaches. As the football world waits with bated breath for his next move, one thing is certain – Pitso Mosimane will bring excitement and expertise to his future endeavours.
