Orlando Pirates trio, Relebohile Mofokeng, Patrick Maswanganyi, and Thalente Mbatha, are just one yellow card away from a one-match suspension, adding an extra layer of complexity to coach Jose Riveiro’s team selection for tonight’s clash against Stellenbosch.

With a crucial match against Mamelodi Sundowns on Sunday, a loss in either game could severely damage their hopes for PSL glory. The Buccaneers are 16 points behind the league leaders, Sundowns, but still have four games in hand. With 12 points still up for grabs, Pirates’ chances aren’t entirely gone, but Sundowns remain the favorites to clinch the title.

In their earlier encounter in February, Sundowns showed their dominance with a commanding 4-1 win, continuing their seven-title streak.

Tough decisions ahead for Riveiro Stellenbosch, fresh off a Nedbank Cup exit at the hands of Kaizer Chiefs, will not make things easy. This means Riveiro will likely field his strongest squad to keep their league challenge alive, though three key players are on the brink of suspension.

Pirates eyeing Moloisane Meanwhile, Pirates are reportedly keeping a close eye on Stellenbosch’s 26-year-old defender, Thabo Moloisane, who has impressed in Africa. Sources suggest Pirates will soon make an offer for the player as part of their plan to strengthen their defense ahead of next season, including their CAF Champions League campaign. The club is also looking to bolster their full-back positions, with Moloisane seen as a key target.
