Manchester City coach Pep Guardiola has opened up about his plans for the future, just weeks after signing a two-year contract extension. The Spaniard, who has been at the helm since 2016, is currently experiencing his toughest spell with the club, managing only one win in their last nine matches across all competitions.
Under Guardiola’s leadership, Manchester City have enjoyed an era of dominance, winning six Premier League titles and a Champions League. However, this season, they find themselves eight points adrift of league leaders Liverpool, sparking speculation about the coach’s position.
In an interview with celebrity chef Dani Garcia on YouTube, Guardiola addressed his long-term plans, stating that Manchester City will be his final club. After his time with the English giants, he intends to transition to coaching a national team.

“I’m not going to manage another club,” Guardiola affirmed. “I don’t see myself starting over in another country or going through the same process. Coaching a national team, though, that’s a different challenge.”
According to BBC Sport, Guardiola had previously been approached to manage England but opted to remain with Manchester City, signing a contract extension last month. The former Barcelona and Bayern Munich manager, who also took a sabbatical after leaving Bayern, reiterated that his focus remains with City for now.
Despite the current challenges, Guardiola’s legacy is secure, having established Manchester City as one of Europe’s top teams. His comments signal a new chapter ahead, one where he might bring his expertise to the international stage.
