Orlando Pirates had a quiet summer transfer window despite being in search of silverware this season. Surprisingly, they didn’t sign any new players, despite links to Oswin Appollis and Thabang Matuludi. One player who was reportedly on their radar was Cape Town City defender Jaedin Rhodes. However, Pirates were unable to secure his services, and they are expected to revisit the deal in the offseason.

Rhodes has been a target for Pirates for some time. According to SoccerLaduma, the club had been monitoring him closely and aimed to bring him in during the January transfer window. However, since the move didn’t materialize, Pirates now have more time to work on the deal and will likely pursue it again in the next window. Another source confirmed that Pirates may look to make some changes to their squad, including loaning or releasing players, in order to strengthen their lineup with targets like Rhodes.

Meanwhile, ahead of their next Soweto Derby clash with Kaizer Chiefs, Pirates are dealing with an injury concern. Chiefs will be without in-form winger Wandile Duba, who recently sustained a knee injury. Duba underwent scans, and it was confirmed that he will be sidelined for about 42 days. While his injury is significant, it’s not expected to keep him out for too long.
