Orlando Pirates are currently weighing several offers from abroad for some of their top players as the January transfer window heats up.
One player reportedly on the move is Congolese midfielder Kimvuidi. After making an impressive start to his career in South Africa with Richards Bay, where he featured in 29 league games during the 2022-2023 season, Kimvuidi arrived at Orlando Pirates to much anticipation. However, his time at the Buccaneers has been less than stellar. In his debut season with the club, he played only 17 league matches, and this season he has made just two appearances in the Betway Premiership and seven in all competitions.
Pirates are considering loaning him out to give him more game time, as his current lack of minutes has limited his development. A source close to the club shared that a loan move would allow Kimvuidi to continue his growth without being stuck on the bench. The club still values his potential, and they do not want to let him go permanently just yet, especially with 18 months still left on his contract. Although there are no specific clubs confirmed, it’s believed that Kimvuidi is open to an overseas move rather than staying within the PSL, though that may be difficult to arrange in this window.
Looking to strengthen their squad, Orlando Pirates are also eyeing a few key players, including left-back Fawaaz Basadien from Stellenbosch FC. The 28-year-old has been a standout performer this season, contributing two goals and two assists in the Betway Premiership, alongside impressive performances in CAF competitions. His ability to get forward and create chances from the full-back position has drawn attention from Pirates, who are reportedly in pole position to secure his signature.
Another name on the club’s radar is Oswin Appollis, a player who has been catching the eye with his performances. Should Pirates manage to land these players, the club could look very different in the coming months.
If these potential signings come to fruition, it’s likely to reshape the Pirates lineup, adding depth and fresh energy. Pirates fans are eagerly awaiting how these moves will impact the team’s performances in the second half of the season.
