As the January transfer window approaches, Orlando Pirates are reportedly looking to bolster their attacking options and have set their sights on a couple of strikers. Among the names linked to the club is Muzomuhle Khanyi, a 25-year-old forward who currently plays for Hungry Lions in the NFD. Khanyi has been in impressive form, netting nine goals this season, and Pirates have been monitoring his progress closely. Local fans have expressed their support on social media, believing the striker is ready to make the leap to Mzansi’s top-flight division.
Pirates are also said to be interested in Lamontville Golden Arrows’ Lungelo Nguse, with both players being considered targets as the Soweto giants aim to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming window. However, Pirates will face competition from other PSL clubs for Nguse’s signature.
A source within the club revealed that Pirates are focused on building a strong squad, with the intention to bring in fresh talent while retaining key players such as Thabiso Monyane. The source added: “There’s been a lot of speculation around Pirates lately, but what I can say is that the club is looking to build a strong squad. The coach wants options in every position, including striker. Khanyi is someone the club has been keeping an eye on due to his good form, but we’ll have to wait and see what happens.”
