Kaizer Chiefs captain Yusuf Maart has been in impressive form in the Betway Premiership, contributing significantly with three assists in the teamβs last two matches. However, despite his recent stellar performances, which included key assists in both a 2-1 victory over Richards Bay and a 2-2 draw against Royal AM, Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has identified an area for improvement in the midfielder’s game.
Speaking after the 2-2 draw against Royal AM, where Maart played a key role in assisting the Glamour Boys’ opening goal, Nabi highlighted that Maart’s issue lies in his confidence. Despite being one of the league’s top performers since the season resumed, the Tunisian coach believes the 27-year-old sometimes lacks self-assurance.
“Yes, I think the issue is with confidence,” Nabi explained. “Yusuf sometimes faces a lot of criticism, which can be mentally challenging for him. But in the last two matches, he has played well, and I believe his performance has improved. Today, he was solid once again.”
Nabi emphasized that he wants to see more confidence from Maart as he continues to evolve in his role with the team. “I want to see him believe in himself more,” Nabi added. “If he does, he will continue to grow as a player.”
As Kaizer Chiefs look ahead to their next match against Polokwane City, they will be counting on Maart and his teammates to bounce back and regain full points in the Premier Soccer League.
