Kaizer Chiefs could be at risk of losing their head coach, Nasreddine Nabi, as reports suggest that he is being considered for a managerial role at a prominent African club. The former AS FAR Rabat manager, who joined the Soweto Giants in the summer, is reportedly one of the top candidates being eyed by the North African club, which is contemplating the possibility of dismissing their current coach. Nabi is not the only name on the list, as a former Orlando Pirates coach is also being considered for the role.
Nabi, who took over at Kaizer Chiefs after his tenure with AS FAR Rabat in Morocco, has overseen a period of transition at the club. While Chiefs finished last season in 10th place in the Premier Soccer League, they have shown signs of improvement under Nabi’s guidance, though there’s still work to be done. According to SuperSport journalist Karabo Phasha, Nabi is among the options to take over the coaching role at Raja Casablanca if they decide to part ways with their current coach, Ricardo Pinto.
Nabi’s previous experience with AS FAR Rabat, where he narrowly lost the league title to Raja by one point, adds weight to his potential move. Raja’s shortlist reportedly places former Orlando Pirates coach Josef Zinnbauer at the top, with Nabi as the second choice. While there is speculation about Nabi’s future, his commitment to Kaizer Chiefs and their ongoing project could potentially keep him in South Africa, while Zinnbauer remains unemployed after his recent sacking by Saudi Pro League club Al Wehda.
