Mamelodi Sundowns head coach, Manqoba Mngqithi, has expressed that he remains calm and unshaken despite recent disappointments, including a loss in the Carling Knockout Cup final and a draw in the CAF Champions League. The Sundowns boss, whose team has faced criticism on social media, is staying positive ahead of their upcoming PSL match against Sekhukhune United on Saturday, 30 November 2024.
Despite some fans and commentators suggesting that his time as the head coach of the reigning PSL champions may be running out, Mngqithi insists he is not panicking. Reflecting on the recent results, which followed a tough loss in the cup final and a disappointing draw with the Congolese side in the CAF Champions League, the coach remains focused on improving his team’s performance.
Mngqithi admitted that the situation could have been much worse had they lost to Maniema in the CAF Champions League. However, he emphasized his belief in the squad and maintained that he has not pressed the panic button. “At this stage, I have not pressed any panic buttons because it would have been catastrophic had we lost this match after losing the final,” he said.
With the pressure mounting, Mngqithi is focused on getting Sundowns back on track with a strong showing against Sekhukhune United, where a positive result is crucial to maintaining confidence in the team.
