Kaizer Chiefs are making bold moves in the January transfer window, and they look set to complete their third signing. The club has a new player training with the first team, and it’s reported that he will soon put pen to paper on a three-year contract.
As Chiefs continue to strengthen their squad, several deals are nearing completion.
One of the exciting moves for Chiefs involves Naledi Hlongwane, a product of the club’s DDC academy. The young player has been spotted training with the senior squad, and the promotion process seems to be all but finalized. “What I can tell you now is that the promotion process is as good as done. They have already allocated jersey number 35 to him, and he traveled with the team to Durban for the game against Sekhukhune United. It was initially believed he would feature in the match, but the decision was changed at the last minute,” a source told SoccerLaduma.
Hlongwane, who has impressed in the academy, is now set to join the senior team on a three-year deal. “Yes, it’s a three-year senior contract that will run until June 2028. Things are certainly working out for the youngsters at Chiefs,” the insider added.
While Hlongwane is being promoted, Chiefs are also busy finalizing their first signing of the January transfer window. Christian Saile will be departing Naturena, making him the first player to exit the club this window. His departure, however, is not expected to be the last, as up to six Chiefs players are likely to leave in the coming weeks—some on loan, while others will depart permanently.
In terms of arrivals, Chiefs are close to completing a deal for SuperSport United striker Tashreeq Morris, who is expected to undergo medicals soon. The 10-million-rand international player has reportedly agreed to join Chiefs after the club made a substantial offer. This move will see Morris replace Saile, marking another key addition to the squad as Chiefs continue to revamp their team for the rest of the season.
