Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has revealed that the club has already kicked off their recruitment process ahead of next season.
Amakhosi are planning major changes to their squad as Nabi continues to push for improvements after two consecutive seasons finishing outside the top eight.
The Tunisian coach has often pointed out that the current squad lacks the quality needed to fully execute his vision. Now that the season has ended, Nabi confirmed new signings are on the way.
Speaking to reporters over the weekend, Nabi said he had a productive meeting with Chiefs chairman Dr Kaizer Motaung last Friday.
During the discussion, they identified the key areas of the squad that need strengthening and the types of players the club should target.
Nabi added that the recruitment team is already working hard to deliver the players needed to help move Chiefs forward.
This development suggests that Nabi is likely to remain as head coach for the next season, despite rumors of his possible dismissal—even after securing the Nedbank Cup this year.
Reflecting on the meeting with the chairman, Nabi said:
“On Friday, we had a conversation with the chairman, and we know exactly what needs to be done in terms of players,” according to FARPost.
“I won’t say how many or which positions we’re targeting, but the recruitment department is working very hard, and everyone understands the team’s needs.
“We’ve already started contacting players, and we’re hopeful to get the right signings. We’re confident the team will improve significantly.”
