Kaizer Chiefs Pay Tribute to Football Legend Peter ‘Pele’ Mokotedi Following His Passing

Kaizer Chiefs have paid tribute to their former player, Peter ‘Pele’ Mokotedi, who passed away recently. The club honored the South African football legend for his contributions during his time at the club. Known for his dazzling dribbling, goal-scoring ability, and exceptional pace, Mokotedi made a lasting impression during his playing days.

Mokotedi, affectionately known as “Fuduwa,” joined Kaizer Chiefs in 1980 from Witbank Black Aces and played for the club for three years. Despite his short stay, his talent and exciting playing style earned him legendary status, and he was adored by fans. He formed a formidable partnership with other football greats like Pule ‘Ace’ Ntsoelengoe and Nelson ‘Teenage’ Dladla, thrilling fans with his skills.

In an official statement, Kaizer Chiefs mourned the loss of Mokotedi, acknowledging his remarkable impact on the club. “Kaizer Chiefs mourn the passing of one of their most talented and popular former players, Peter ‘Pele’ Mokotedi, who thrilled the Amakhosi faithful with his mesmerizing skills between 1980 and 1983,” the club stated. They also referred to Mokotedi’s dribbling skills, pace, and sharp eye for goal, which earned him the nickname “Fuduwa” from Chiefs supporters. The club also mentioned that Mokotedi had received a framed number 8 Amakhosi jersey, signed by the management and players, in 2014 as a token of appreciation.

In other news, Kaizer Chiefs have also shown interest in signing South African international Oswin Appollis from Polokwane City. However, the club has stated that they are not prepared to go all-out in the transfer battle for the player, as they face tough competition from other clubs.
