Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly eyeing Tanzanian midfielder Feisal Salum, who has made the decision not to extend his contract with Azam FC.
The 26-year-old, who worked with Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi at Young Africans, has been in standout form this season, scoring four goals and providing nine assists for Azam FC. His recent success followed a tactical switch that saw him take on a more attacking role, showcasing his versatility in various midfield positions. With his ability to contribute both in goals and assists, Salum has become one of the most sought-after midfielders on the continent.
Despite receiving a new contract offer from Azam, which includes a signing-on bonus of $320,000 (R6.6 million) and a monthly salary of $12,000 (R223,315), Salum is reportedly keen to explore new opportunities elsewhere.
A source close to the situation revealed, “Feisal Salum has made his decision and informed the club that he will not extend his contract. He is enjoying his time at Azam, a big club, but he wants to seek new challenges at the end of the season.”
While a move to Kaizer Chiefs remains uncertain at this stage, the possibility is a serious one, with sources indicating that a transfer to Naturena could be on the cards.
After already signing three new players in the January transfer window, Chiefs have signaled their intent to strengthen further in the upcoming transfer period. Whether Salum will be one of their targets remains to be seen, but his potential arrival could add considerable depth to their midfield options.
