Kaizer Chiefs’ long chase for Fiston Mayele seems to have hit a dead end. The club is now shifting its attention to other striking options.
Kaizer Chiefs Move On from Fiston Mayele Pursuit
From early this season, the Soweto giants were heavily linked with DR Congo striker Fiston Mayele. However, fresh reports from Egypt reveal that Pyramids FC, Mayele’s current club, has renewed his contract.
A source told Soccer Laduma, “There are several reasons behind this move. Every time Kaizer Chiefs try to sign Mayele, the asking price goes up because other clubs are also interested. Now that Pyramids FC has extended his deal, it’s even tougher to negotiate a transfer.”
Because of these challenges, Kaizer Chiefs are believed to have decided to pause their pursuit of Mayele for now.
Instead, Amakhosi are reportedly eyeing alternatives like Michael Olunga from Al Duhail and Yanela Mbuthuma from Richards Bay as they plan their striker recruitment.
