Kaizer Chiefs have been one of the most active clubs during this transfer window, already securing their first signing and continuing to make waves in the market. Last week, the Soweto giants successfully completed the acquisition of Tashreeq Morris from SuperSport United, marking their first major move of the January transfer window. With Morris joining, Kaizer Chiefs saw Christian Saile head in the opposite direction, becoming the only player to leave the club so far this transfer period.

The club has also been linked with several other players, both locally and internationally, as they aim to bolster their squad. One of the latest names in the transfer rumors is DR Congo striker Makabi Glody Lilepo. Reports suggest that Kaizer Chiefs have submitted a R9.6 million bid for the 25-year-old, who currently plays for French side Valenciennes. Lilepo has been in good form this season, scoring four goals and providing one assist in 14 appearances across all competitions, which has caught the attention of Chiefs’ management.

In addition to Lilepo, Chiefs are reportedly eyeing Polokwane City winger Oswin Appollis. Although Appollis has expressed his desire to leave the club, Polokwane City has yet to entertain any discussions regarding his departure. The club is reluctant to sell him to a local rival, but it remains to be seen whether Chiefs will persist with their pursuit.

Another player that has been on Kaizer Chiefs’ radar for some time is Asanele Velebayi, the captain of Cape Town Spurs. While the Urban Warriors initially rejected an offer from Chiefs, there are reports suggesting that they may be open to selling if the Soweto giants return with an improved bid.

Meanwhile, Kaizer Chiefs were also reportedly interested in Pyramids FC forward Fiston Mayele. However, the interest in Mayele seems to have cooled for the time being. With Pyramids still competing in the CAF Champions League, it appears unlikely that they will part with their star striker during this transfer period.

As the January transfer window nears its close, it remains to be seen whether Kaizer Chiefs will pull off a major signing, potentially landing one of the biggest transfers of the season. Fans will be watching closely to see if the club can make additional moves to strengthen their squad as they look to push for silverware in the 2025 season.
