Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has recently shared that the club is adopting a new transfer strategy ahead of the next season, with a focus on bringing in players who align with his tactical approach.
As part of this new strategy, reports suggest that Feisal Salum, a standout midfielder for Tanzanian Premier League club Azam FC, has emerged as a potential target for Chiefs. Despite being linked with a move to South Africa in the past, Salum still has over a year left on his contract with Azam and his club has stated that he is “not for sale.” However, sources indicate that Chiefs are preparing to make a significant offer for the 27-year-old, with a reported asking price of around R7-million.

“Informal talks between Chiefs and Azam have already begun. While official denials are expected, it’s clear that discussions are happening,” a source revealed. The source also noted that while Azam may be firm on their stance for now, the club might have to consider selling if Salum refuses to extend his contract, as they wouldn’t want to lose him for free.
Salum previously worked under Nabi at Young Africans (Yanga), which could strengthen the connection between the two should the move materialize.
In an interview with iDiski Times, Nabi emphasized the importance of adapting the club’s approach in player recruitment: “We know the competition is tough to sign players from other clubs in South Africa, so we need to change our strategy. We have a new management plan in place. After this window, we may look outside South Africa for players who fit into my system, not just big names.”
