Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has made it clear that he doesn’t plan to make significant changes for their final 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Sudan. With their qualification for Morocco 2025 already secured, having topped Group K, speculation has been rising about potential rotation in the squad.
Despite the talk of resting players, particularly with Mamelodi Sundowns playing in the Carling Knockout final, Broos dismissed any early releases or drastic lineup changes. He emphasized the importance of maintaining team motivation for their last qualifier, which will take place at DHL Stadium in Cape Town.
“I can’t answer that now,” Broos stated when questioned about possible changes to the starting lineup, particularly regarding players like Relebohile Mofokeng. “I want to keep all my players motivated and will not provide any information to my opponent. We aim to finish first, and I will field our best team tomorrow.”
Broos also rejected the idea of treating the match as a friendly, saying that unnecessary changes could send the wrong message to the players. “If you make six or seven changes, it could signal to the players that the game isn’t important. We want to finish top of the group and we will put out our strongest team,” he added.
Bafana Bafana’s final qualifying match against South Sudan will take place at 18:00 on Tuesday.
