Kaizer Chiefs head coach, Nasreddine Nabi, expressed his frustration after his team was held to a goalless draw by Cape Town City at FNB Stadium on Wednesday.
Amakhosi entered the match hoping for a win to climb into sixth place in the Betway Premiership standings. With Rushwin Dortley sidelined due to injury, Msimango was given a rare start in defence. Edmilson Dove, who had returned from injury, retained his place at left-back.
Nabi chose to start with Mdu Shabalala up front alongside Gaston Sirino, Makabi Lilepo, and Ashley Du Preez. In the 42nd minute, Shabalala had a golden opportunity to put his team ahead after intercepting a pass from a City defender. However, he missed the one-on-one chance against Darren Keet, firing wide, much to the frustration of the crowd.

Despite dominating possession and creating numerous chances in the second half, Amakhosi failed to break down Cape Town City, who held firm under coach Muhsin Ertugral. Since his appointment in January, Ertugral has taken four points from his former club, Chiefs.
After the match, Nabi was clearly disappointed and criticized his players for not capitalizing on their opportunities.
“The game is finished, and you need to take responsibility. We’re in this position because we miss chances like that,” Nabi said. “We controlled the game, created all the chances, and still lost. It’s not acceptable for Kaizer Chiefs. We dropped points today, but we have another game this week, and we need those three points.”
Nabi also emphasized the responsibility of every player on the field, regardless of how much time they spend on the pitch. “Every player I field has a big responsibility. Whether they play five or ten minutes, they must give everything. I’m very sorry for losing those three points today,” he told SuperSport TV.
Since joining Kaizer Chiefs in July, Nabi has had mixed results, with notable improvements in cup competitions but inconsistent league performances.
