Orlando Pirates winger Deon Hotto admits he’s uncertain about what to expect from Kaizer Chiefs this Saturday but had positive words for the club’s new signings.
Chiefs made several moves in the January transfer window, bringing in Tashreeq Morris, Glody Lilepo, and Bafana Bafana’s Thabo Cele. While none of them have played yet, they could all make their debut against Pirates this weekend.
The two teams will face off for the first time this season at the FNB Stadium in a Betway Premiership clash. Hotto, one of the standout performers for Pirates this season, is aware of Chiefs’ recent additions.
“I’ve seen the three new players. I saw the striker from SuperSport—he’s very good, a hard worker,” Hotto commented. “The other two, I don’t really know them. But these signings could definitely change the dynamic of the game.”
Despite not knowing much about two of the new faces, Hotto is confident in Pirates’ preparation. “I’m sure our technical team is working hard, reviewing footage of those players so we can be ready for whatever they bring on the weekend. As for Morris, I’m familiar with him,” Hotto added.
Saturday’s derby will also mark the first Soweto Derby for new Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi, who took charge in July after joining from Moroccan club AS FAR. The match kicks off at 15:00 at the FNB Stadium.
