Kaizer Chiefs could be keeping an eye on Themba Zwane’s situation at Mamelodi Sundowns, according to some exciting reports.

With Sundowns bringing in Bafana Bafana star Jayden Adams recently, it could have some unexpected consequences for other players within the team—especially Zwane. The veteran playmaker, who has been a crucial figure for both Sundowns and the national team, was given a one-year extension at Sundowns during the off-season. This move raised some eyebrows, especially after his important role in helping Bafana Bafana secure a third-place finish in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.

Despite his legendary status at Sundowns, the 34-year-old has found himself sidelined more often than expected this season. While he had started to find his feet again in the first team, a long-term injury has hampered his progress. This may open up a window for other clubs, with Kaizer Chiefs reportedly taking note.

According to KickOff.com, Chiefs have shown interest in out-of-contract Sundowns players in the past, and Themba Zwane may be the next big name to follow in that tradition. The 35-year-old’s contract at Sundowns runs out in a few months, which could make him an attractive target for Chiefs, who have previously signed players like Gaston Sirino, Khama Billiat, and Leonardo Castro from Sundowns on free transfers.

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos still rates Zwane highly, so his potential move to Chiefs wouldn’t be out of the question. Given the history of players making the switch from Sundowns to Chiefs, it’s a possibility that fans at Naturena may soon be hoping to see Zwane in a Chiefs shirt.

Do you think a move for Zwane is realistic, or is it just speculation? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below!
